1. Who We Are

OurTools.in ("the site," "we," "I") is operated by Akash, an independent developer based in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, India. This site provides 55+ free browser-based tools for PDF editing, image processing, video utilities, text tools, calculators, and more.

2. Data We Do Not Collect — The Important Part

We do not collect, store, or see the files you process on this site. This is not a legal technicality — it's architectural. Here's how the main tool categories work:

• PDF tools — PDF processing uses pdf-lib, a JavaScript library that runs entirely in your browser tab. Your PDF is loaded into browser memory, modified, and downloaded back to your device. It never travels over the network.
• Image tools — Image editing, compression, resizing, and format conversion use the browser's Canvas API and OffscreenCanvas. No image data leaves your device.
• Video tools (most) — Most video processing uses FFmpeg.wasm, a WebAssembly build of FFmpeg that runs inside your browser. Your video file is processed locally.
• Text tools — All text operations (word count, case conversion, JSON formatting, etc.) are plain JavaScript running in your browser. We never see your text.

We also do not: require account registration, collect your name or email address through tool use, sell your data to any third party, or run any server-side file processing for most tools.

Exception — video processing: A small number of video tools (Video Compressor, Video Trimmer, and similar) use a server-side API for processing because FFmpeg.wasm cannot handle certain operations efficiently in a browser. For these tools only, your video file is temporarily uploaded to our processing server, converted, made available for download, and then automatically deleted within minutes. We do not analyze, store, or share these files.

3. Data We Do Collect

Analytics (Google Analytics 4)

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site — which tools are popular, how long people spend on each tool, and where our traffic comes from. Google Analytics collects anonymized data including page views, session duration, browser type, device type, and approximate geographic region (country/city level). IP addresses are anonymized before storage. We do not use this data to identify individual users.

Advertising (Google AdSense)

OurTools.in displays ads through Google AdSense (publisher ID: ca-pub-4403764924056854). Google AdSense uses cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your browsing activity across the web. This is called interest-based or personalized advertising. The ads are what keep this site free. Google's privacy policy governs how they use this data — see the AdSense section below for how to opt out.

Community Requests (Firebase)

Our tool request page uses Google Firebase Firestore. When you submit a tool request, the request text (tool name, description) and any username or email you voluntarily provide are stored in Firebase and are publicly visible to other users. Do not include personal information in public tool requests.

Walkie-Talkie / P2P Features (Firebase + PeerJS)

The Walkie-Talkie and peer-to-peer file sharing tools use Firebase for temporary session presence and PeerJS's public signaling server to establish peer connections. No audio, video, or file data is stored on any server — the media transfers directly between browsers. Session data in Firebase is ephemeral and cleared automatically.

We use the following types of cookies and browser storage:

You can manage or delete cookies through your browser settings. Disabling advertising cookies will result in generic (non-personalized) ads rather than no ads. Disabling analytics cookies prevents usage measurement. Clearing localStorage removes saved tool preferences.

5. Google AdSense — Advertising Disclosure

This site uses Google AdSense to display advertisements. AdSense is a requirement for keeping all tools free. By default, Google shows personalized ads based on your interests and browsing history across Google-affiliated sites. This uses the DoubleClick cookie and other tracking mechanisms.

You have the following options to control ad personalization:

• Google Ad Settings — Turn off ad personalization across Google services
• Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out — Opt out of interest-based advertising from participating companies
• Network Advertising Initiative opt-out

Even after opting out of personalized ads, you will still see ads — they just won't be targeted to your interests. Google's full privacy policy is available at policies.google.com/privacy.

While Indian law (IT Act, 2000 and Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023) is the primary applicable law, we aim to meet the spirit of GDPR and similar regulations for all users. You have the right to:

• Access — Request information about what data we hold related to you
• Correction — Request correction of inaccurate data
• Deletion — Request deletion of data associated with you (including Firebase community request data)
• Opt-out of analytics — Use Google's Analytics opt-out extension or enable Do Not Track in your browser
• Opt-out of ad personalization — Via Google Ad Settings (see Section 5)

Since we collect minimal personal data, most requests can be fulfilled by clearing your browser's cookies and localStorage. For Firebase data deletion, contact krsnasakhas108@gmail.com and we will remove it within 7 business days.

8. Children's Privacy

OurTools.in is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has submitted personal information to this site (for example, via a community tool request), please contact krsnasakhas108@gmail.com and we will delete it promptly.

Google AdSense is configured to not serve personalized ads to users who may be minors, consistent with Google's policies.

9. International Data Transfers

OurTools.in is operated from India. The third-party services we use (Google Analytics, AdSense, Firebase) may process data on servers located in the United States or other countries. By using this site, you acknowledge that your anonymized usage data may be processed outside India. These services maintain data processing agreements and safeguards consistent with applicable privacy laws.

Because our tools process files locally in your browser, your actual file content is never transferred internationally or to any server.

The site is served over HTTPS. Because we don't collect or store personal data beyond anonymous analytics, there is no database of user information that could be breached. Community requests stored in Firebase are protected by Firebase security rules that prevent unauthorized modification.

The browser-based architecture that protects your privacy also significantly reduces our security attack surface — there are no stored files to compromise.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy as the site adds new features or as legal requirements change. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. For significant changes, we'll note them on the homepage or the requests page.

Continued use of OurTools.in after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
