LocalLab Privacy Policy

The short version: LocalLab runs AI models entirely on your phone. There's no account, no analytics, and no server of ours that sees what you type or generate. The only time the app talks to the internet is when you choose to download a model, and even then, only the model file moves — never your content.
1. Who We Are
LocalLab is an Android app built by the OurTools team, the same small indie team based in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, India that runs OurTools.in. LocalLab lets you download and run AI models directly on your device, no internet connection required once a model is downloaded.

2. What We Collect
Essentially nothing. LocalLab doesn't ask you to create an account or sign in. We don't collect your name, email, phone number, or any other personal information through the app. There's no usage analytics tracking how you use the app, no advertising identifiers, no telemetry pinging us in the background, and no crash reporting SDK sending error reports off your device.
We built it this way on purpose. An app that runs models locally doesn't need a pipeline back to us, so we didn't build one.
3. What Stays On Your Device
Everything. Your prompts, your conversations, whatever the model generates for you, and the model files themselves all live in the app's local storage on your phone. None of it is transmitted to us or to any third party.
We don't run servers that process your prompts or outputs, and honestly, we couldn't see what you create in LocalLab even if we wanted to. The processing happens on your device's own hardware, using the model you downloaded. That's the whole architecture.
4. Network Use
LocalLab is offline by default. Once a model is on your device, the app doesn't need the internet to run it. There are exactly two situations where the app makes a network connection:
- Downloading a model. When you choose to download an AI model, the app fetches the model file from Hugging Face (huggingface.co). This only happens when you initiate it. Only the model file is transferred — none of your prompts, conversations, or generated content are sent as part of this request. Hugging Face's own privacy policy covers that connection; you can read it at huggingface.co/privacy.
- Emailing us feedback (optional). If you choose to send feedback from within the app, it opens your own email app and the message goes directly to us as a normal email. LocalLab itself doesn't collect or relay that message through any server of ours.
5. Third-Party SDKs
None. LocalLab doesn't include an analytics SDK, an ads SDK, a crash reporter, a social login SDK, or any other tracker. The only external service the app talks to is Hugging Face, and only for the model download described above.
6. Permissions
LocalLab requests the following Android permissions:

LocalLab doesn't request permissions for contacts, location, camera, microphone, or SMS unless a future version adds a feature that genuinely needs one, in which case this section and the app's manifest will be updated together.
7. Data Sharing and Sale
We don't share, sell, rent, or transfer any user data to third parties. This isn't a policy choice we could break even if we wanted to; we don't collect any user data to share in the first place.
8. Data Retention and Deletion
Since we don't collect or store anything on our end, there's nothing for us to retain and nothing for us to delete on your behalf. Your prompts, conversations, and downloaded models exist only in the app's storage on your own device.
If you want to clear everything, you can clear LocalLab's storage from Android's app settings, or uninstall the app. Either way removes all local data immediately.
9. Children's Privacy
LocalLab does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. Since the app collects no data from any user, this applies the same way regardless of age. 10. Security
Because your data never leaves your device, it's protected by whatever security your device already has: your screen lock and Android's own app sandboxing, which keeps LocalLab's storage separate from other apps. We can't protect your data if your device itself is lost, unlocked, or compromised, so the usual precautions (a screen lock, keeping your OS updated) matter here.
11. Changes to This Policy
If we update this policy, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For any change that meaningfully affects how the app handles data, we'll also note it in the app's Play Store listing update notes.
